Description
Reo and Parker discuss how landscape change similar to what people are concerned about with climate change today has a long history in certain regions. In what is now called the Eastern U.S., colonialism enacted environmental changes such as massive deforestation. Indigenous peoples had to adapt to these changes, moving from a seasonal lifestyle to one that conformed to new landscape changes as well as colonial conceptions of property and government. Reo and Parker take lessons for how people confront climate change today from how people adapted to climate change in the past.
