Nathaniel Wolloch Independent scholar
Nathaniel Wolloch is an Israeli scholar. He received his PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1998). He has taught over the years at various universities and colleges in Israel, including Tel Aviv University and the University of Haifa. In 2016-2017 he was a visiting scholar at the Institute for Historical Studies, University of Texas at Austin and in 2017 a Fellow at the Minerva Humanities Center, Tel Aviv University. He is an intellectual historian of the long eighteenth century specializing in the history of attitudes toward nature and animals, the history of historiography, the history of economic thought, and art history. He is the author of numerous articles and three books, Subjugated Animals: Animals and Anthropocentrism in Early Modern European Culture (2006); History and Nature in the Enlightenment: Praise of the Mastery of Nature in Eighteenth-Century Historical Literature (2011); and the recently-published Nature in the History of Economic Thought: How Natural Resources Became an Economic Concept (2017).
